Affiliate Disclosure

Effective date: 15 October 2026

Idle Facet is free to read and carries no advertising. It is paid for in one way: paid affiliate links. This page explains exactly how that works, where the links are, and what it does and does not change about the course.

F.1 How the arrangement works

F-Global s.r.o., the publisher of this site, takes part in an affiliate programme for the game World of Warships, run through an affiliate network. When a reader follows one of our links to that programme and goes on to create and activate an account, the network records that the referral came from Idle Facet and pays F-Global s.r.o. a commission for it.

The commission is paid by the programme, out of its own marketing budget. It is not added to anything you pay. Whatever the vendor charges you, if it charges you at all, is exactly what it would charge a person who found the same page through a search engine, a friend or a poster on a wall. There is no code to enter here and no arrangement under which your price would differ.

We are paid on the action the programme defines — a sign-up — not on whether you enjoy the game, keep playing or spend money later. That is worth stating because it describes the limit of our interest: once an account exists, our relationship with the transaction is over.

F.2 Where the affiliate links appear

In five places, each of which carries a one-line disclosure immediately beside the link itself:

  • On the home page, in the section explaining where World of Warships appears in the course and why.
  • In Step 1, in the section on the three shapes a game's payment model takes.
  • In Step 3, in the section on finding a vendor's own documents.
  • In Step 4, in the section on where a game file should come from.
  • On this page, below.

Every affiliate link on this site points at the programme's own address, written out in full in the page's code, so that it appears in your browser's status bar before you click. We do not route clicks through a redirect of our own, do not rewrite links with a script, and do not hide where a link goes. Each one opens in a new tab and is marked for search engines as sponsored, which is what the convention exists for.

There are no other paid links anywhere on Idle Facet. Links to vendors' documentation and to Australian government bodies are ordinary links and earn us nothing.

F.3 What the commission does not decide

It does not decide the content of the steps. The five steps describe a sequence that applies to any downloadable PC game, written to the questions beginners get stuck on. If the affiliate arrangement ended tomorrow, the steps would say the same things in the same order, and the only change would be the removal of one worked example and five links.

It does not decide what the checklists ask. No checklist item mentions World of Warships, and every one of them can be completed against a different vendor entirely.

It does not buy favourable statements. This site publishes no scores, no rankings, no benchmarks and no comparisons, so there is nothing for a commercial relationship to tilt. Where the course states a fact about the game, that fact comes from what the programme itself states — that the game is downloaded and installed on a desktop computer, that an account is created and activated, and that Windows and Mac desktop computers are supported while Linux is not. Where the programme does not state something, the course says it is not stated, including about price.

F.4 What does decide it, honestly

Two things, and it is better to name them than to imply some editorial process that does not exist.

The first is the sequence. The order of the steps, the choice to put vocabulary first and money last, the decision to end each step in something you can confirm yourself — those came from asking what a beginner cannot do without, and cutting everything else. That part is editorial judgement and nothing else influences it.

The second is the commercial relationship, and it decides exactly one thing: which game is used as the worked example. World of Warships is in this course because the publisher has a commercial relationship with the programme that promotes it. It was not compared with other games and did not win anything. If you would prefer to work through the course with a different title in mind, nothing in it will break.

F.5 The editorial method

How the course was structured, which sources each step relies on and how often it is reviewed is set out in full on the About page, under the editorial method. That page also repeats this disclosure in shorter form, so that a reader who starts there is not left to discover it later.

F.6 Trade marks

All brand names on Idle Facet, World of Warships among them, are the property of their owners. Except for the paid affiliate links described on our funding page, none of those owners is affiliated with Idle Facet, and none has endorsed or sponsored it. Idle Facet is not an official site, not authorised, not a partner and not a reseller; it is an independent publication that happens to earn commission from one programme and says so.

The link below is a paid affiliate link: if you create an account after following it, this site is paid a commission, at no additional cost to you.
Visit the World of Warships website

You can read every page of this course, print every checklist and finish the whole thing without following it. Nothing here is withheld behind a click, and the course was written to be worth reading on that basis.
